Welcome to Somers Town Geology Society
This is my second year’s architecture project located in Somers Town, near the King’s Cross, London.
The brief was to create a Town Hall within the developing area in between the two of the biggest educational/Research facilities, the British Library & Francis Crick Institute. The aim is to reimagine its future as a place where the community in the wider Somers Town area come together to celebrate & experience the land they live on.
The Geology Societies concept was inspired by the understanding & researching of underground boring technologies that were observed & used in the development of Kings Cross & Euston underground stations. The town sits on a network of underground rails that connect people throughout London and the rest of the UK making it an ideal starting point to create a network of spaces that circulate and elevate within the excavated landscape so that the public can get a better understanding of new research done to see into the potential benefits of living underground….
